Black Dog melodies and lyrics were written between January and May 2009 through a collabaroation with Producer and Dj Pole Folder for his Helsinki Accord Album. He would send me a loop around which I would have to write an entire song. Sometimes the loop consisted of no more than drums with no harmonic reference. Somewhere along the line things didn't go as planned for Pole Folder and the songs written by me were kept tucked away. In early 2010 I decided to use the melodies and lyrics of this collaboration and produce my own cd, the result being Black Dog. The music I wrote underneath these songs has no reference to Pole Folders original loops, not in sound, tuning or any melodic reference. As I never had time signatures for any of the loops, the songs were written through feel, and the rhythm, by ear. I would however like to credit Pole Folder as an equal partner (as long as he's not embarrassed by this) as these songs all came out of long conversations with him over a period of quite a few months. A Sasha remix of Pole Folders' Hate Myself was also released by Pole Folders Label in late 2009. As far as I am aware there have been no other releases by Pole folder in which we have collaborated.
